Game-A-Week: X-Crawl

This one has always seemed interesting to me. The setting is kind of a cool twist on the standard dungeon crawl and turn it into a game show almost. Sort of like Smash TV (an extremely awesome video game).

This one is cool, and we've messed around with it a bit, but never really played a proper campaign yet.

X-Crawl (Modern High Fantasy)- Half Dungeons and Dragons, half reality show, half SmashTV, half Running Man, half fantasy, half sci-fi and enough balls to manage all six halves. Battle horrible monsters for fun and profit as well as your five minutes of fame on TV. Winners are sports heroes and losers are piles of goo.
Campaign: Battling it out in dungeon after dungeon, competing with other teams for trophies and the money to go with it. Fairly straight forward with combat, puzzles and a little bit of showboating for the cameras.

It's cool in that it keeps the same dungeon crawling component, but turns it into a Running Man athletic reality show. The role playing aspect becomes more about dealing with modern life, bribes to throw matches, and a lot of other stuff.
