Magic the Gathering has always been a favorite of mine. I used to play regularly and competatively. It's been a long time since I've done that, but I still have my role playing. Why not combine them? Sounds like a plan.
I'm going to be working off the rules I found on io9 and plan on expanding on them a great deal.
