Wreck-Age Zombies

This portion is set in Haiti, think of it as the basis for Wreck-Age: Haiti (which could also be used in the southern US in French areas). The stories say that a group of Stitchmen migrated to the area, separated from the rest of their people they needed to get the locals to help them. The locals at first were hesitant until the Stitchmen found the help in one Baron Kriminel. The twisted Kriminel taught them the black arts and allowed them to summon forth the dead, much to the dismay of Baron Samedi, Baron Le Croix, and Baron Cimitiere.

XCom Expanded

So I had some more ideas regarding how the research and ranks could be handled in an XCom game.

4e Explained!

So this rediculously complex web they've made of 4th edition and essentials is way over board. I think however now that I have a firm grasp on it.

Online Gaming

So I'm thinking about starting a sister campaign for our weekly God of Heroes 4e game online. Need at least four people, but I think I like the group dynamics of a party of six. Still technically learning 4e as in our first campaign we're only just at level 3.

Deeper into the Depths of The Daring Defence

The intruders burst into the meal room. Suddenly all the tables are flipped over and we're ready to fight. Moments pass by, feeling like an eternity.

Technology

So most of the times when we refer to technology we look at ways to use computers and smart phones in our gaming environment. I've selected a few fancy pieces of technology and a few not so fancy pieces for what works best with our group (an so far some of them are really paying off for me at least). These work pretty much with any RPG though they're written in the perspective of our Dungeons and Dragons game.

Second Level

We're at second level finally and are actually making progress (3 encounters in one night!). Of course 2 encounters this level are actually "quests" for the players themselves. An image of their characters and a want list of magical items. This is a two-fold trick.

Call Out

So I'm calling out Wizards of the Coast here. Consider this an open letter of complaint. The number of books is too damn high!

The Continuing Story of Faceplant the Bold

After gaining access to the temple they were after, the mighty heroes missed no beat by wondering WHY they were after the temple they were now in. And yet they entered.

Carcassonne

I picked up three copies of this game the other day and we busted one out and had some fun. I think it's the first time Iniquity came in last place.

XCom

So, being a huge X Com fan for since it first came out, I picked up the new game. This game is at the top of the sales charts on Steam for a good reason.

Borderlands 2

Wow, anyone else get this game? Seems to be flying under the radar of everyone.

Questions

Found a old file I compiled while doing some data backup on my computer. This is a list of questions to use for making characters to help get into their heads. Feel free to use this in your games. I have no clue the original sources of these unfortunately, but I have a few ideas.

Congradulations!

Wow, a huge congrats over to our Wreck Age friends. They got tremendous support for their project at the last minute and rocketed threw most of their stretch goals. The one they missed was adding in counters and such as $17,500.

Slow Running

So there's been little on the gaming front for a few reasons. Obviously as I've said, busy with real life. The second is the slow pace our game has been going. Extremely slow.

Projects

The new project is rolling out with with the ideas. That's good news.
Since this is what I've been working on I figured I'd post some more about what's going on in the gaming life.

Wreck-Age Kickstarter

Hey all, just wanted to kick in support to the guys over at Wreck-age and their current Kickstarter. They've already met their goal and their first stretch goal, but keep the money rolling in for them.

New Project

So I'm still not back into the swing of doing things regularly. Unfortunately I'm still really busy with work, real life and a new project.

The Omen

Just an update here on Wreck Age and their promo playtest/intro called The Omen. It's listed on DriveThruRPG, so I wanted to share it with all of you.
You can get it over here, so check it out if you haven't and enjoy.

Obsidian Portal

Checking out this website right now. It doesn't look like it will work too well with the current campaign unless I flesh it out beyond my quicky planning job.

Game-A-Week: Dark Heresy

The first in a growing series of games based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe. This was originally released by Games Workshop's own Black Library, but after instantly selling out and rave reviews, Games Workshop closed their RPG development studio and sold off the game rights.

Catch Up

So last week, we ran behind as one encounter took roughly 3 hours and we had to finish characters  when we sat down at the table. This week is going to basically push them through to level 2 by making them go through the toughest encounters yet to get everyone caught up.

(D&D 4th Edition) Seyonne Journal Entry 7-20-12

So we finally convinced the only member of our group who didn’t want to play 4th edition to actually give it a try (despite him never actually trying the game or even reading anything about it).  Read on if you dare...

New Campaign

So for those that couldn't tell, we're starting a new campaign today. This time it's an epic Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition game.

Gears of War AABR

Last week we took another shot at Gears of War. This time, trying some more missions. Here's our After Action Battle Report.

God of Heroes

You find yourself at a doorway. Little recollection of what was going on before now, but you certainly don't remember walking up to a door. At least not this door.

EVE Online

Aside from our normal paper and pencil role playing games I have been immersed in the universe of EVE Online.  A long time ago I swore I would never get involved in the pay-to-play genre and still don’t fancy the idea of a paying to play a game I have already purchased.  But I love 4X and Space Simulators, especially games such as Homeworld and Freelancer (which both have a special place in my heart to this day).

Between Sessions

Sorry all, we're currently between campaigns, but soon we should be running two in alternating weeks. I'm also going to reorganize the board games as I would like to make that a bigger part of the blog. I might even make a spin-off blog of just board games. Who knows. We'll see.

Monday, July 9, 2012

Star Trek Expeditions

To my benefit I was browsing Barnes & Nobles and came across this discounted board game so I picked it up for the group.  The setting is planet Nibia where the Enterprise has been invited to open discussions about their government joining the federation.  The game is broken into two parts, ship combat between the Enterprise and a Klingon Battle cruiser and planetary missions.  You also have 30 days until the Klingon fleet arrives (which is an automatic defeat).

Gamma World, short post

The other week we tested out yet another interesting roleplaying game called Gamma World, a post-apocalyptic setting where the term human is loosely used.  The game system is D20 and mostly resembles 4th edition as far as mechanics go.  Character generation is very unique since you have a primary and secondary origin.  Your character's primary origin could be anything from plant based to hawkoid.  The secondary origin adds another level of flavor and diversity, I ended up with a Electrokenetic Plant as my character.

Need For Speed The Run

So I rented this game and thought I would share the experience with everyone. I hope you're not a fan.

Gears of War Board Game

Last week we had the pleasure of enjoying yet another fun fantasy flight board game, Gears of War.  Just like its console cousin the game features 1-4 player co-op and plays very similar.  The game system features missions that progress when certain criteria are met and has a unique ‘AI’ card system that keeps the enemy interaction interesting.  Each mission has a different tile setup that adds to the replay value.  The difficulty of the game is moderate and teamwork is crucial to survival, so if you have a teammate that’s more worried about picking up a gun rather than completing an objective you’re probably going to perish, horribly.

Behind

Sorry about the lack of regular updates lately. We're getting back on track soon hopefully. I've got a large number of board games to post about and more RPGs for our game list. Since our Star Wars game is on hiatus the NPC Spotlight is out for a while, at least until we get a long term game going again.

D&D 5 Edition Playtest

We are currently taking a break from Starwars to try out a few other games.  Those of you who have enjoyed Talon's Journal Entries, fear not!  We will resume that campaign sooner or later.  The week before last we play tested Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition.  The game takes the group into a typical dungeon dive full of creatures, traps and treasure.  From what I gathered by playing this new system is that it combines the best elements from all of the previous systems and is quite awesome.  I played as a pre-gen High Elf Wizard at level 1.  Things have changed quite a bit since 3.5, no longer to I have to fear death after 1/2 of a hit to my character or count myself out of spell casting after 2 magic missile spells!  No!  MM has been moved the cantrips list and can be cast at will without any preparation!  But enough of that, here is an excerpt of our adventure.

A New Contest Looms

I just got about 60 redundant Steam Keys and need to liquidate them. There are 8 games in the mix including Puzzle Kingdom, Disciples II and Beat Hazard. If you're here from my Eve Online giveaway please leave a comment on this post so I can see how well this traffic drive is doing.

So we had a little meeting last night and decided that we're putting the Star Wars game on hiatus.

Game-A-Week: Tour of Darkness

Imagine playing a front line soldier battling the Viet Kong out in the middle of Vietnam during the war. Pretty rough stakes right? What if things got a little weird. What if say, a pit of dead soldiers started begging you to save them only to stand up and attack you?

Agasha Kensuki, a brief history

Agasha Kensuki of the Dragon Clan, an aspiring young Shugenja and direct descendent of Agasha herself.  He grew up in the lowlands of the Mirumoto Provinces, just past the Great Wall of the Northern Mountains.  At an early age he had an affinity for the five elements and had an easy time with his studies.  Since the founding of the Dragon Clan the Mirumoto and Agasha families have maintained a strong bond.  One of this best friends from childhood went by the name of Mirumoto Ryogin.  They would often train together and were a frightening force to fight against.

Game-A-Week: Arcana Evolved

I've covered Dungeons and Dragons as well as Iron Heroes. So now we get to Arcana Evolved. Which in a way is the opposite of Iron Heroes in that where Iron Heroes makes magic rare, Arcana Evolved makes it more prominent.

Gaming Intermission 5-11-12

Instead of our typical Friday Evening Roleplaying Session we decided to play two different games.

The first is a board game called Pandemic, a four player co-operative game.  The board consists of a map of the world with the locations being major cities.  Each player has a role card that allows them specific special abilities.  The object of the game is to find a cure for all four of the games diseases.  On a player’s turn you have four actions for movement, removal of disease cubes or other actions.  After this is finished the player goes into the infection phase where they draw two player cards and an amount of infection cards based on the infection level.  Those cards will have a city on them and you place an infection cube on that city.  The only problem is that a city can only have three cubes and if another is placed on it, it acts much like an exploding die, spreading cubes to neighboring cities.  Each time we played we came closer to curing the pandemic but to make a long story short we’re in trouble if a real pandemic hits!  It’s quite a fun game and worth owning.

Board Game Chart

Here's a little shopping list for the group here. I'm really interested in doing more research in more of these games. Several I've played. Many I've heard of. But a few of them have me really interested to find out more.

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Game-A-Week: Ghostbusters

I love Ghostbusters. I love the comics. I love the movies. I love it all. This game is based on the D6 system popularized by the old Star Wars game by West End Games.

Talon Journal Entry for 5-4-12

After some thought we decide to perform another jump to a random force signature.  A few uneventful days go by as we sail through hyperspace and upon exiting we spy a massive derelict ship.  The ship definitely looks like it has had better days.  With difficulty we find and land in a docking bay, without the aid of a tractor beam or docking lights even!

Saturday, May 12, 2012

NPC Spotlight: Master Sigma

Master Sigma is one of the best known tacticians around. When it comes to traps, none are better.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Game-A-Week: World of Darkness

Last week I covered Street Fighter from our game list, this week we're picking up with the basis of that system.

Saturday, May 5, 2012

NPC Spotlight: Knight Koosh

The first member of the new Jedi that the players met, Koosh is responsible for the safety of the crew in their early days in the universe.

Keeping Up

So as some of you know, I was out of town last weekend, which explains the lack of a post on Monday. I've got another weekend gone coming up here too.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Game-A-Week: Street Fighter

No, not the video game. While I have been known to play a mean Street Fighter vs X-Men in my day, this is about the RPG. I have an unhealthy fascination with letting players duke it out whenever they have a disagreement. This game allows a safe and easy way to settle the who's tougher disputes.

Saturday, April 28, 2012

NPC Spotlight: Dog Officer Ruff

This week we take a bit of a different direction and will explore the personality and quirks of one of the few people to stand out in this universe despite not being trained in the force.

Friday, April 27, 2012

Nation Red Complete

First contest is over and the group is taking a break so I can head into Chicago for the weekend.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Game-A-Week: Starship Troopers

This week we're hitting up an interesting game with a book, several movies and a CGI series based off of it.

Monday, April 23, 2012

Kensuki Agasha Journal Entry for 4-7-12

Immediately after completing my Gempukku I am told to report to the wall. Once there I meet three other Samurai who have earned their right into adulthood. A familiar Dragon Bushi who goes by the name of Ryogin Mirumoto. A Phoenix Shugenja named Kokuta Isawa and his Bushi, Zako Isawa. After introductions we report to a Bushi of the Crab Samurai who issues us each a finger of jade. He stresses that we're always to keep the Jade with us at all times. We're also to remove any individual who is wounded or tainted by the shadow lands. We must also cut off the head of an dead so it may not rise again. Our mission is to travel to a Nezumi camp (rat people) and locate a beast that's been harassing them. We're to identify what it is and how to kill it, reporting all findings back to the Crab Samurai.

Saturday, April 21, 2012

NPC Spotlight: Darth Blaze

A mystery figure, as little is known about her. There is even question as to whether she's still alive or not currently. However there is a lot to her, and dead or alive, she is still important to the future of some ships.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Computer Gaming

Last couple of weeks we've taken a break from our role playing and went to hit the computer games.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Game-A-Week: X-Crawl

This one has always seemed interesting to me. The setting is kind of a cool twist on the standard dungeon crawl and turn it into a game show almost. Sort of like Smash TV (an extremely awesome video game).

Monday, April 16, 2012

Talon Journal Entry for 3-30-12

We head back to the ISD Verdè and dock after an uneventful jump. Needing a break I leave the group in search of a drink while Kal speaks with Cyan and gets her to set up a Council meeting with three other ship captains. He's led into a room that has a console with three screens on it. Kal takes ten and activates the computer. Each screen displays a different captain, the first goes by the name Darth Blaze, she's wearing some sort of advanced Mandalorian armor. The second captain we've already met, a Hutt who goes by the name of Zanta. The third is a human female who goes by the name Knight Maryn.

This is our 99th post. A milestone has been reached and a pointless achievement has been gotten.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Game-A-Week: Iron Heroes

This next game is one that has always interested me. A low magic version of Dungeons and Dragons. Instead of magic we get different options for martial characters and a single magic using class.

Monday, April 9, 2012

Talon Journal Entry for 3-23-12

After a while the mining laser is complete and we're anxious to try it out. We jump to the asteroid belt that was found a little while ago. Upon exiting hyperspace we pick up visual scanning and still see many smaller ships harvesting the asteroids. Kal engages the thrusters and as soon as we move forward a few of the other ships break off and assume an intercept course. Kal switches on comms and hails them to be met by a gamorrean. The conversation is short and goes as well as it can with a gamorrean, it then transfers our channel over to another ship. There's some static on the screen and then a Hutt, great. Since Hutts only speak their native language Kal requests a translator. The Hutt pulls a guy in front of the screen, laughs and then spaces the guy! We request permission to mine offering a good split of what we find and the Hutt laughs as his ships move into attack formation. We take the hint and Hyperspace out of there.

Saturday, April 7, 2012

NPC Spotlight: Master Grod

And now in this corner the master of pain, one of the strongest hand to hand combatants alive, and pretty tough with force powers. Master Grod, the Wookiee master of the force.

Friday, April 6, 2012

Act II

We're almost to Act II. We've been getting ready by earning experience and getting new ships to aid in the fight. However we have a bit of a struggle as we're learning that despite a lot of people willing to help, not many people will jump into a fight for no reason.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Game-A-Week: Key to the Kingdom

This game is an adventure all in itself. You journey to 6 magic worlds in order to gain treasure and the Key to the Kingdom and escape while you can.

Monday, April 2, 2012

Nation Red- Contest

Today we're tying something new. This is going to be the first give away contest of hopefully many.

Talon Journal Entry for 3-16-12

Thane finally realizes that he's missing his lightsaber and asks me about it. I tell him to talk with Kal on that one. Kal makes a fuss about it but finally returns the weapon. We decide to recruit Darth Fae so we plot a course and jump back to her fleet. Upon arrival I ask for and audience with her and my request is granted after three hours. We're met by her apprentice who leads us to an audience chamber. Fae is there along with several robed figures who silhouette both sides of the chamber, cloaked by shadow. I waste no time and get to point of asking her to join our fight against the prophet. She accepts and I am very pleased. I also ask her about other 'Jedi' who might be willing to join our cause and she mentions Grod. Much thanks is given and we set off for another mid-range blip.

Abilities

So I am adding a few new abilities to the game to help out the players and add some more detail to the setting. These will be helpful to add a few more setting based abilities. More will hopefully come later.

Game-A-Week: Dungeon Dice

First off, happy Pi Day everyone. Secondly, happy White Day to our Japanese follows.
This weeks game is Dungeon Dice. An older board game from way back in 1977, many years before any of our group was born.

Monday, March 26, 2012

Talon Journal Entry for 3-9-12

After a long, hard and sweaty training session with the apprentice, Knight Kyla pulls me aside. She tells me that she trusts me and reveals a real Jedi Holocron. Both Fae and Kyla know that the current traditions are wrong since they draw their power from emotion and hatred and want to follow the true Jedi traditions. I offer any assistance I can since I am well versed in both Jedi and Sith traditions. I'm very excited since this is my chance to rebuild the Jedi Order! I also ask her about the force blades and learn that they pull energies from the user rather than a battery.

Saturday, March 24, 2012

NPC Spotlight: Darth Cyan

This week we're covering a fairly new NPC to the campaign, but one of the most helpful we've seen. Her ship is the ISD Verde, an ISD with the front end replaced with a bigger docking ring creating a space for open trade.

Friday, March 23, 2012

Getting Into It

Finally we're seeing some action in Star Wars. Not that it hasn't been exiting up until this point, but in the new timeline and the new era, the progress has been slow.

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Game-A-Week: Necessary Evil

This next one is part of a great series by Pinnacle Entertainment in their Savage Worlds game. There is a plot point campaign in the back that was updated in the Explorer's edition (this one goes to 11). There are also pregenerated characters included in the book.

Monday, March 19, 2012

Talon Journal Entry for 3-2-12

We're met by a uniformed twi'lek and after a brief conversation we learn that the year is 329 of the New Galactic Calendar. He then leads us to a great chamber where their commander sits high up on a throne. It looks like a small furry creature wearing robes, the dialect it speaks is just as foreign as this place. Much to our relief the twi'lek translates for us. Right away we learn that they have no concept of planets as all were destroyed in the war between the Jedi and Sith. According to him the Jedi eradicated all of the remaining Sith at the end of the war. If that's so, what is this lingering dark side presence I feel? Much of the old technology has been lost and ships are entirely dependent on Jedi for long distance travel as nav computers are a relic of the past. Our interpreter reveals the race of our host, an Ewok. After a few more questions he walks down to get a closer look at us.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

NPC Spotlight: Knight Koosh

Saturday seems like as good of day as any to drop this new feature. I started it on Monday to fill in and it's been getting a lot of traffic. For this installment we're going to get away from the major characters and fill in a bit of the background, starting with Knight Koosh.

Friday, March 16, 2012

Sunday Gaming

So I've got the whole Sunday thing figured out (almost). I've managed to wrangle four people that are interested and can attend the game.A fifth would be better, but we get by with what we have.

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Game-A-Week: Camp

We took a little break to play some board games after we finished up with Star Wars the other week. This is the first of the games we played: Camp.

Monday, March 12, 2012

NPC Spotlight: The Prophet

Filling in for Black Iniquity, as he is taking the weekend off. So I'm introducing the most useful resource for my players this yet. Hopefully this will also be useful for other Game Masters out there to help build NPCs as well.
First up, we're going to cover the most essential non-player character in the campaign, the mastermind behind it all, The Prophet.

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Flatpack Introduction

There we were. I printed the character sheets and got ready to play Flatpack.
The game was pretty interesting to say the least, once I made up enough rules to make it work.

Friday, March 9, 2012

Total Paradigm Shift

So my players wrote me a blank check to mess with their heads by going into the future. So far we're just exploring the world without getting to heavy into the plot (yet). I want them to know some of the characters before getting to far involved.

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Game-A-Week: Dungeons and Dragons

Finally we get to the big one. Dungeons and Dragons has pretty much been a large inspiration for most games and gamers for a long time, right up there with Tolkien (which, also was an inspiration for this). A favorite of mine, easy to run and fun to play. Generally agreeable to most people but the only trouble is figuring out what version people want to play.

Talon Recap Beginning to 1-27-12

This is a look into what got Talon to where he is. A blast from the past and a not so quick recap. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as Black Iniquity and I have enjoyed getting him there.

The Experiment

So we're about four or five months into this so far and I think it works great for me. Since I can see the player views of my game and can adjust things based on this. Normally as a game master I am limited by what my players tell me. Sometimes I would hear things like "so and so said they felt totally lost with the plot" and I could adjust to that, but this way I no longer have to rely on someone coming to me about it.

Friday, March 2, 2012

The Reckoning

So with one person in an escape pod, floating away without any desire to be rescued by any capital ships nearby.
The other two manage in a TIE Bomber and a TIE Interceptor.

Game-A-Week: Legend of the Burning Sands

This is another game I don't really own, but to make it a little harder on myself, it's technically not even it's own game. Legend of the Burning Sands is more of an expansion for Legend of the Five Rings (fourth edition).

Monday, February 27, 2012

Talon Journal Entry for 2-17-12

Myself and some thirteen thousand other crew members are adrift in escape pods. To my surprise the Mandalorians and Rebels form up together and target every Tie fighter on the battlefield. Kall and Thane also join up with them.

Saturday, February 25, 2012

Advantage

So I am really trying to start taking advantage of this opportunity I have with a blog and my players (even just one) posting their side of the story.

Friday, February 24, 2012

Game Night Preview for Feb 24th

So here's the scoop on the game tonight. We have another buddy coming over for as a guest star to our game session. This means a short night for Star Wars, but a lot of BSing at the table.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Game-A-Week: 7th Sea

So this section is a little weird to write, since it's the first game on my list that I do not own. Rough I know, but I love Legend of the Five Rings and this game is stylistically similar. Made by the same people even.

Monday, February 20, 2012

Talon Journal Entry for 2-10-12

We're called before Star Killer who intends to give us more responsibility, ha ha. We discuss our current situation and the fact that we're in the middle of three warring factions. We formulate a simple suicide plan, lure all the factions into one place for another battle. Kall contacts the Mandalorians, Mandalore in particular. Talks don't go very well but they agree to show up and pick us up if we crash our Star Destroyer into an Imperial Capital Ship. Star Killer agrees to give us command of his Capital Ship and departs (chicken shit).

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Not filler, honest.

So deciding to set up a blog for the group was a pretty easy thing to do. We have a lot of fun stories to share. It also forces certain people to put more effort into writing notes for the session. However actually running the blog for the group is another matter. As you can tell with three authors, we have two people doing all the writing. I've thoguht about adding everyone from the group, but am worried that with more people writing, it might become more difficult to keep everything flowing. We're definitely trying to keep pace with the Monday/Friday updates (although I know sometimes mine are on Saturdays or Sundays) and we try and fill in on Wednesdays whenever we can.

Game-A-Week: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Power

This game is one from my childhood, long lost but I found a new copy for my friends and I to enjoy. Every one's favorite, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Power board game. I've had this one for a little while and just needed an excuse to bust it out.

DAZ Studio 4

Nothing directly game related here. These are two pieces I created using DAZ Studio 4, I really like the software and as you can tell I was having a bit of fun. My goal with this is to learn the software so I can start creating my own characters and rendering scenes from our games. Due to work, lack of time and life I cannot give a timeline at this time but keep a look out!

Monday, February 13, 2012

Talon Journal Entry for 2-3-12

On the way back to our capital ship I feel enlightened and dismantle my old lightsaber only to reconstruct it in a manner that suits me better. Upon arrival we immediately notice that the ship has been stocked full with fighters, as if preparing for an assault. My speculations are correct, as soon a we dock we're each assigned Tie Interceptors. The Star Destroyer jumps immediately as we prepare for combat.

Game List

So the holidays are over, we had taken a week off of gaming for a friends wedding. And I'm getting over some nasty injuries from work. Of course that hasn't stopped me from thinking about gaming.
Right now I'm in talks with another group that wants me to come in and DM some 3.5 games for them. I'm looking at Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil or World's Largest Dungeon. Maybe, just maybe we'll look a Ptolus though. I've always been interested in that. I am however going to give them the full list and let them pick out what they're interested in.

Game-A-Week: Legend of the Five Rings

So this next game is one of my personal favorites. I have an almost complete collection of the first edition books and it was the first RPG I really got into. I had previously played Dungeon and Dragons (and Advanced) but never got into it as much as I did with this game.
I've also gotten the second and third editions for the game, but not as many books in my collection, nor do we really play them.

Talon Journal Entry for 1-27-12

With nowhere else to go we head back upstairs. I make sure to keep a suspicious eye on the group, you never know when someone might shoot you in the back of the head! As soon as we emerge we hear the Sith Spirit resonate in our heads "You're not the Star Killer, I shall bury you in this place!" Immediately the complex starts to shake and crumble apart! We take the turbo lift up and in the next room we hear all of the combat droids marching around and as the saying goes: 'We're between a rock and a hard place'.

More Updates

Just a quick update to let everyone know what I've done over the last couple of days. I've added in a few tools to help us bring you links to find the games we're playing. I've also added in Jump Breaks to help give the site a cleaner look. I've already gotten positive feedback on these and I think I like the look better myself.

Battle of Yavin

So it turns out Starkiller has been orchestrating a lot more than previously thought. The Rebels attacked the Death Star and the Mandos attacked the rebels. Then Star Killer swooped in and attacked everyone. The players fled at the second sign of "trouble", namely Mandos that were as of yet unsure of what the teams were in this fight, but were glad to curb stomp the rebels. The players then retreated into the safety of their allies Imperial-Class Star Destroyer.

The Coming Storm

We finished out last week with a single character death (RIP meatshield), setting up the coming events and the jedi going full Sith.
Early in the campaign I gave an "out" to become an evil group. Since this is a sandbox game I have basically been manipulating the group into several roles where they can fall where they want. Right now they've basically locked themselves on a path since after the comign events start happening, changing sides will be extremely difficult.

Game-a-Week: Star Wars

This is our new series we'll be doing where I cover one of our games from my game list. This series should last roughly a year, longer if I can manage to get more games. I might choose to add more types of games other than just our standard Role Playing games later to extend the life of this section. Feel free to comment on the games and let us know what you think. That way we know what to play next.
First up is our current game, Star Wars.

Talon Journal Entry for 1-20-12

We continue to trek through the complex with Kall having to check every single door on the way. Then we come across a room with a bunch of surveillance equipment in it, destroyed by the water we let into the complex of course. Continuing on we come across a gungan who was trapped in a holding cell. He goes by the name of Yosa Boss and joins our party (play 'join party.midi').

Yosa Boss

I designed this character, so I think I should add some comments up about him.
I desided it would be fair to start him at level three for now. After this last adventure and the impending escape, it will be interesting to see how much XP they're really racking up. He should hit the levels pretty fast.

Wreck Age Take Two

So the crew over at Wreck Age posted a blurb about their next scenario on their webpage.
Not a whole lot new to hear in terms of what will be included. We already knew that we would see more about getting the community going. I'm hoping to see more of the skills and such we had mentioned earlier.

Hybrid Game for 1-13-12, First impressions

This week we took a break from Star Wars to try a hybrid game our GM has been conjuring up. It consisted of lite role playing elements, the use of Magic The Gathering cards for combat and rekindling an old but massively awesome D & D campaign. Our characters are unnamed for the purpose of seeing whether or not this style of game will work. I play the role of the son of Samuel Ryndrales who is a noble, powerful and illustrious Monk. Edward Teach and JD are also with me.

Death of Starkiller

This week we discovered the end of Starkiller, apparently dead for four years. But more importantly a Gungan and a ship. The Gungan seems to think they're all idiots. Everyone else knows they're idiots. Really though, I think I made things too easy and the group over thought, literally, everything.
"There's a door." "Open it." "There's a bunk bed." "Go to the next door" "Are you going to open all thirty doors over the next three hours?" "Yes."

The Temple

So I think I enjoyed the method I used to work on this adventure. I should include photos and scans of the information, but that would require a lot more effort than I'm going to do right now.

Talon Journal Entry for 1-6-12

There is nothing so we head back down. Kall manages to hack the door which opens up to a dark room containing an active computer console and a lift. The console gives us one security option that we can manipulate so we change the IFF to kill anything that is not us. Immediately we hear explosions upstairs so we investigate. On the upper level we find a junk droid ripping apart an XS Stock Light Freighter! Kall uses his jet pack to fly up and land on top of it to stop the droid from finishing its attack. Jang goes inside hoping to at least recover the ship's navigation data. He immediately rushes back out after because of the harmful gasses, radiation, etc. leaking from the ship. We give up on the ship and continue downward.

Magic the RPG

Magic the Gathering has always been a favorite of mine. I used to play regularly and competatively. It's been a long time since I've done that, but I still have my role playing. Why not combine them? Sounds like a plan.

Bring Back THAC0!

They've announced a fifth edition of Dungeons and Dragons. Black Iniquity and I have played Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (kind of), Third Edition, 3.5 and Fourth Edition together, so I'm looking forward to this. It seems we're weird in that we enjoy a lot about fourth edition rather than hate it. Although we have had a lot of fun and a lot more experience playing 3rd and 3.5, so that's always fun.

Talon Journal Entry for 12-24-11

We're dispatched to rescue a scouting vessel that is disabled and can only use it's sub-light engines, it's a CR-90. We jump to it's location, Jang arriving one day before Kall and I. Jang rigs the engine and does the necessary prep work before we arrive (preventing it from going critical). After our arrival it takes a day to completely repair the engines, just in time before another imperial patrol arrives. They thank us and we head back to home base.

Into the Temple

Finally they realise sitting on the roof does not get you in the front door. They decend and enter. Imediately they find a console and hack into the security. They then set the primary sentry to kill anything that isn't them. Explosions rock the base from above. They rush up the turbo lift to find the sentry destroying an XS Stock Light Freighter. Freakout commences.

Legend of the Hidden Temple

So soon we'll be hearing about the adventures of our crew in an old abandoned military base. My goal for this military base is to create a spider web of traps, shortcuts, and combats suitable for every skill set. The more skills and diversity in a group, the more rewards they will get and the less combat they will see. However, the challenge isn't only for people with skills. A group can easily fight their way in, kill things, break things get the prize and leave if they want.

Updates

I've been updating the blog and adding in some new features. We've gotten some hits from StumbleUpon lately so I added in a a tool for easier sharing.
I also stream lined the ads to make them smaller for now. We'll see how that works out.
I'll be bugging our graphics guy (Black Iniquity) to get a favicon and a banner up too.
With two months under our belt and possibly getting another gaming group on here I figure it's time to get things  going properly. For now, enjoy while we roll out the changes!

Talon Journal Entry for 11-25-11

It doesn't take us long to get accustomed to another Imperial Ship. While walking back from one of my training sessions I'm approached by a robbed figure who gives me coordinates to go to the next day. I gather up my group and we head out there and find a Star Destroyer waiting for us. After being escorted in we dock without any trouble. Awaiting us is a robed figure who wastes no time with pleasantries and escorts us to his master. Upon entering a large chamber he walks up, sits down in a chair and unveils himself. The dude is young, bald and introduces himself as Star Killer (Why are evil people always bald). He also introduces us to his dark forces, trainees of his new Shadow Academy.
